Subject - Mix Mediabox - funding for young people involved in media

Posted : (Thursday 10th July 2008 ) By - jess (Registered User)Mediabox is a DCSF fund that supports disadvantaged young people aged 13-19 to work alongside professionals to learn media skills that enables them to express themselves and to have a voice.

Mediabox has received additional funding through the DCLG to support similar activity that has outcomes linked to community cohesion. Grants of up to £30,000 will be available for organisations to run media projects (film, radio, photography, games, print and interactive) with young people.

Projects will need to demonstrate that they can bring together young people from diverse backgrounds to work together on media projects that explore issues relevant to them. Activity should primarily benefit disadvantaged young people aged 13-19 but could also contain elements that reach out and include the wider community (for example, inter-generational work with older members of the community, particularly the parents and grandparents of the young participants). The completed work should be celebrated in the communities that took part.

Please take a look at the documents attached for further details about the grants available.

We are keen to reach as many organisations working in this area as possible and would be very happy for you to forward this email to any contacts or organisations working in the area of community cohesion and intergenerational projects that you think may be interested in putting together an application.

Potential applicants should please note – applications must be made online (via the Mediabox website www.media-box.co.uk ) with two hard copies sent in by post by the deadline of 22 July 2008. The online application process with be open from 7 July 2008.
